St Mark's Campanile

The Bell Tower nicknamed "El Paron"

For a breathtaking view of Piazza San Marco and the rooftops of Venice and the lagoon you have to climb above the Campanile di San Marco.

Since 1902 the bell tower has dominated Piazza San Marco, nicknamed "El Paron". it also gave rise to the glass of wine which in Venice is called "Ombra" precisely because it was drunk in the shadow of the bell tower.
